Bhubaneswar, July 8:

The frequent power cuts since Monday in Bhubaneswar and some other parts of Odisha are due to a sudden failure of two units of NTPC Kaniha and one unit of the TTPS Talcher, the secretary of Energy department Pradip Kumar Jena said today.

The Energy secretary, who is in Delhi today, told OST over phone that the disruption in power supply was caused by the failure of three units of NTPC and TTPS to generate power.

When asked why the people have not been informed about the shortfall in power supply and the resultant power cuts, he said the CESU has been advised to inform the consumers through the media.

The Energy secretary also said all efforts are being made to ensure normal supply at the earliest.
