Bhubaneswar, Mar 14:
Odisha Energy Minister Pranab Prakash Das today ruled out possibility of load shedding in both urban and rural areas of the state during the ensuing summer as reservoirs of hydel projects in the state had adequate water owing to normal rainfall during the monsoon.
Das made the statement while replying to a written question in the state Assembly today.
“There should be no load shedding this summer both in urban and rural areas as most of the water reservoirs have adequate water due to normal rainfall during the monsoon as per data received from Grid Corporation of Odisha (Gridco),” the Minister stated in the House.
“We have put a contingency plan in place to avoid power cut in both urban and rural areas. We will meet additional power requirement during the summer by procuring power from different sources,” he added.
Das informed the House that electricity would be procured through power banking system to meet emergencies during the summer adding that power distribution companies had been asked to store required number of transformers and other equipment ready to meet emergencies.
