The Utkal University in the Odisha capital is all set to conduct election for two vacancies in the Senate and one vacancy in the Syndicate on August 13 in the Conference Hall of the PG Council building here.
This was informed by the Registrar of the University Dr Banani Mohanty by order of University Vice-Chancellor (VC). The message about the date of election and submission of nomination (under Statute 110 of Chapter-II of the Odisha Universities First Statutes, 1990) was conveyed to all members of the Academic Council through notice no-A/ST/17-16138/2014 on July 28.
“In continuation to notification no.- 5160/2014 dated 22.03.2014, this is to notify that the VC has been pleased to fix 13th August, 2014 (Wednesday) at 11.30 am as the date and hour for the poll for election of two members to the Senate under Clause-(m) of sub-section-(1) of section-(9) and one member to the Syndicate under Clause-(h) of sub-section-(1) of section -10 of the Odisha Universities Act, 1989 for the unexpired portion of the term under section 16 of the same Act,” the notification said.
The notice also said candidates contesting the election for the required posts should meet the nomination criteria.
The contesting candidates could obtain the nomination and submission of statement of the nominees form from the Section officer, Senate and Syndicate Section of the University.
The last date for filing of nomination form is August 11 and the forms should reach the Registrar, Utkal University before 5 pm the same day. The scrutiny of the nomination papers will be made by Registrar on August 12 at 11.30 am in the syndicate hall.
The polling, which will be held in the Conference Hall of the PG Council the next day will start from 11.30 am and end at 3.30 pm.
