The Odisha High Court today issued notices to the MLAs of Mohana, Ghasipura and Parjang in connection with irregularities in the last assembly elections.
Admitting petitions alleging irregularities in the last elections, a single-member bench of Justice CR Das of the High Court served notices to Mohana MLA Basanti Mallick, Ghasipura MLA Badrinarayan Patra and Parjang MLA Dr Nrusingha Sahoo to reply within three weeks in the matter while fixing the next date of hearing for August 14.
While defeated Congress candidate from Mohana Dasarathi Gomango, who had lost the elections by a slender margin, had alleged irregularities during the assembly elections, BJP’s defeated candidate from Parjang had alleged of suppression of facts by Dr Nrusingha Sahoo in his affidavit and had demanded declaration of his election null and void, sources said.
Similarly, defeated Congress candidate from Ghasipura Prihviraj Kuanr had alleged rigging in some booths visuals of which captured on mobile phones were even aired by local television channels.
