Bhubaneswar/Soro, Feb 19:
Soro police was in the Odisha capital yesterday to further investigations into the Ranjit Patnaik alias Raja suicide case and searched a private hotel room, questioned its staff, sister and brother-in-law of the deceased.
They questioned the sister and brother-in-law of Raja staying at Delta colony here. Raja’s relatives told the police that the couple were in a relationship and that Raja was not much in contact with them after meeting Jessy.
Thereafter, the police team visited Hotel Solan Inn in the city frequented by the couple Raja and Pralipta Priyadarshini Samal alias Jessy and questioned the staff.
The hotel staff has said that Raja and Jessy were staying in the room number 414, since last September. Surprisingly, while all the staffers have agreed that that both of them were staying in the room for the last six months, no possession of Jessy has been found in the room, according to police officers.
What has confused the police that while the room has clothes and daily use items used by Raja, not a single thing belonging to Jessy was found in the room during the search.
The hotel management has said that the room has been kept locked after Raja’s death giving rise to the question where have all Jessy’s belongings disappeared?
On the other hand, Jessy, yesterday, did not talk to anyone in jail.
Jessy is lodged in cell no-9, which she shares with four other under-trials. She had called up her father Alok Ranjan Samal in the morning, and when he arrived at 11 am with food items, bread, juice and banana, she broke down.
Jessy has no access to television and the jail staffers discourage her from reading the newspaper, she told her father. She is completely broken by Raja’s death and she cannot believe that he is no more, she reportedly told jail authorities.
