Police evict agitating teachers in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Agitating members of All Odisha School College Teachers’ and Employees’ United Forum were today forcibly evicted by police near the Capital High School here, the teachers alleged.

As many as three teachers were reportedly detained by police. Earlier in the day, the agitators were seen preventing teachers from entering the Capital High School, an evaluation centre for the Matriculation examination.

On the other hand, School and Mass Education Minister Badri Narayan Patra said that in view of the agitation by the teachers, alternative arrangement has been made by the State Government for evaluation of Matric exam answer sheets. Evaluation process has started at 57 centres and the results will be declared as per schedule, he added.

Notably, the forum has given a call for boycotting evaluation of the examination papers. The agitating teachers are protesting delay on the part of the government to issue a notification regarding withdrawal of a compulsory affidavit clause to avail grant-in-aid.
