Reported by Santosh Jagdev

Bhubaneswar, May 21:

Commissionerate police today arrested two persons allegedly involved in the murder of one Ananta Narayan Mohapatra (31), an employee of a private company, of Dhakhinamunda Muhan under the Jatni police limits in Khordha district.

The accused were identified as Sukuru alias Hadu Barik (42) of Kadapada under the Buguda police limits in Ganjam district (presently staying at Ogalapada under the Jatni police limits) and Dillip Kumar Sahu (36) alias Dillu of Dakhinamunda Muhan under the Jatni police limits.

The incident came to light after one Rama Krushna Rath of Uttarmunda Muhan of Khurda lodged a complaint report with local police station about the murder of his brother-in-law Ananta who was allegedly murdered at Jaanla, on the outskirts of the city, on the night of May 10.

While the investigation was in progress, the prime accused Radheswar Moharana (32) alias Radhu, fearing police action, committed suicide on Railway track near Retang station a day after the murder, Jatni police said.

Tracing the calls on Radhu’s mobile phone, the investigating team got to know about the other two accomplices and nabbed the duo today.

The police said Ananta was killed by three persons following a scuffle over the former’s illicit relationship with a lady.

During the investigation,  the police have recovered a blood stained bhujali and two mobile phones from the possession of the two accused.

Investigation is on to ascertain if other persons are  involved in the crime, police added.

Accused Sukuru is a labourer who works in Vizag Steel near Tangi in Cuttack district while the other accused Dillu was working as a hydra operator in Bright Steel Company near Khordha.
