Bhubaneswar, Oct 11:
The Odisha government has asked private bus owners and Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) not to ply buses in five districts during the cyclone in order to avoid possible accidents due to possible snapping of overhead electric transmission lines.
The government has asked the private and government bus operators to keep their fleet off the road in Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Koraput and Rayagada districts which are likely to be hit by the very severe cyclonic storm.
“Since the power transmission lines are weak and old in these districts, we have asked the OSRTC and private bus operators not to ply buses during cyclone to avoid possible accidents,” said Special Relief Commissioner Pradipta Mohapatra.
He also requested the people not to drive along the roads in these districts during the cyclonic storm.
Meanwhile, the Energy department has decided that it will switch off power supply when the wind speed reaches 20-30 km.
