Acting on allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to known sources of income, Vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids at three places belonging to Umesh Chandra Sahoo, plant protection officer of Dhamnagar block in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.


The anti-corruption agency officials, led by Vigilance DSP Banamali Dhal, conducted raids at Sahoo’s office in Dhamnagar, residence at Charampa and parental house at Maitapur, sources said.

Preliminary assessment of properties revealed that Sahoo has two buildings worth Rs 2 crore in his name, sources added. He was transferred as Koraput District Agriculture Officer two days ago.

In a similar incident, Vigilance officials conducted raids at office and three houses of Agriculture Department executive engineer Gouri Shankar Sahu in Bhadrak. The raids were conducted at his houses in Baripada, Jaleswar and Old Baripada.
