Pillion rider dies after being hit by bamboo in Odisha

Baripada: In a tragic incident, a pillion rider died after his ear was hit by a bamboo on his way at Satabhaya Square at Bangiriposi in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district.

The deceased was identified as Suna Singh, a resident of Itamundi village under Baripada Sadar police limits. The biker also sustained injuries in the incident.

According to reports, Suna was riding pillion on a motorcycle to attend a funeral feast at Manada village.

The incident occurred at around 12.15 pm at Satabhaya Chhak on Kalabadia-Bangriposi MDR-45 when a portion of bamboo carried by a person on the road pierced his ear.

The victim was rushed to the Bangiriposi Community Health Centre in critical condition where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The motorcyclist Mohan Singh of the deceased’s village received a minor injury after falling off the vehicle.

The Bangiriposi police initiated a probe into the incident.
