Odisha vigilance officers today detained Phulbani mining officer Prafulla Sethy and his brother-in-law (wife’s brother) in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
Sethi was detained after deposits worth Rs 32 lakh was found from bank accounts of his wife and brother-in-law (sister’s husband). Two expensive cars have also been seized.
Earlier in the day, acting on the complaints of disproportionate assets in excess of his known source of income, several teams of vigilance conducted raids at nine different locations, said Phulbani Vigilance DSP RD Nayak.
The raided locations includes Sethy’s Phulbani office, ancestral home and his houses located in GGP colony and Sabarsahi of Bhubaneswar.
While properties worth over Rs 5 crores had been discovered, cash worth lakhs had also been seized.
Nayak has three houses in Bhubaneswar, two in Teladiha, a plot and a market complex in Nischintakoili, said a source in Vigilance Department.
