A photo exhibition for children, “Know Your Birds”, was inaugurated todat at the Odisha Modern Art Gallery here today.
The exhibition was initiated and organized by the Bhubaneswar-based Soumya Memorial Trust in collaboration with Odisha Modern Art Gallery, was formally inaugurated by well-known bird conservationist and vice chairman of Wild Odisha, NK Bhujabal.
This exhibition showcases photgraphs of more than 100 types of bird species of birds-both resident and migratory- found across Odisha. These include attractive stills of six species of kingfishers, wooly-necked stork, Caspian terns, green-billed Malkoha, Asian paradise flycatcher and many more captured on camera by Pramod Dhal, superintendent of Union Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax and his daughter Gloria, an M.Tech Student.
The photographs shot by them at various locations of Odisha including Botanical Garden, Dhauli, Khandagiri, Chandaka, Shikharchandi hill, Chilka wetland at Mangalajodi and Bhitarkanika mangrove ecosystem.
Their work has been hailed as a great source of reference by noted ornithologist and international bird expert like Tim Inskipp.
“This exhibition is an attempt to spread awareness especially among children on bird conservation. The lenses of the father-daughter duo bring the message from the feathered friends that they need our help,” said Soumya Memorial Trust chairman Kanhu Charan Parida.
The five-day exhibition would remain open for the children from 11 AM to 7 PM and will conclude on September 11, informed Tarakanta Parida, founder of Odisha Modern Art Gallery.
