The permanent campus of the proposed Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) is most likely to be set up at Laudigaon under Kanisi tehsil in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
“During the Central team’s last visit Laudigaon has been finalized as the site for the permanent campus of the IISER. There are no two opinions on that issue. Details of rooms, space and facilities available in these three buildings for locating the temporary campus will be compared/ studied by the site selection committee which will submit a report on the basis of which competent authority will take a decision,” informed L N Gupta, principal secretary Technical Education department of the state government briefing reporters today.
“We have visited the three sites identified for setting up of the temporary campus. We have taken facts and will submit a detailed report on facilities etc available in each site. The final decision will be taken by the competent authority,” stated V K Singh director, IISER Bhopal, the mentor of IISER Odisha talking to reporters today.
The Central team today visited Laudigaon to finalize on the site for the permanent campus of the proposed IISER in Odisha. In addition the team also visited three identified sites for locating the temporary site of the institute.
This was the second time the Central team visited Odisha to finalize on the site for the institute.
The joint director of the Human Resources Development department of the Central government and director of IISER Bhopal, principal secretary Technical Education department of the state government, senior officials of the Skill Development and Technical Education department and Ganjam collector visited Laudigaon and the three proposed sites for the temporary campus.
