The Odisha government today held a high-level meeting chaired by chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the state secretariat with regard to setting up of Food Commission in the state.
Sources said it was revealed at the meeting that as many as 27 persons have applied for the post of chairman of the Food Commission while 77 have applied for the post of a member.
The meeting shortlisted the names of former chief secretary Gokul Chandra Pati, Ranglal Jamuda, Ashok Tripathy and Girija Shankar Patnaik for the post of chairman of the Commission, said sources adding that Pati was the forerunner in the race.
However, the state government will take a final call for the post.
Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare department has said the Food Commission will be operational within one month.
