Parliamentary Standing Committee on IT under the Chairmanship of Anurag Singh Thakur today visited Odisha’s Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) & KIIT.
Apart from Thakur, Members of Parliament including Meghraj Jain, K C Patel, Virendra Kashyap, Keshav Prasad Maurya, Salim Ansari, Anupam Hazra and Ramdas Chandrabhanji Tadas visited various departments of KISS and interacted with 25,000 tribal students – as per a press release issued by KISS.
“KISS is a wonder of the country. Everybody dreams, but a few of them make it to reality. Founder of KISS Achyuta Samanta is one among few successful persons who turned their dreams into reality,” said Thakur addressing the students.
“We all should learn from him. We the parliamentarian talk in the House about the development and upliftment of down trodden especially schedule tribes. Many schemes and policies are worked out and implemented for the development of tribal, but most of the tribal people continue to languish in poverty, lack of education and healthcare facility”.
“Education is the key to your self-development as well as development of society, state and nation. I hope hundreds of ‘Achyuta Samanta’ will be groomed among you, so that our country will develop much more,” he added while addressing the KISS students.
While Achyuta Samanta delivered the welcome address, Secretary of KIIT & KISS R N Dash gave the presidential address.
