Bhubaneswar, Aug 6:
Former Army doctor Dr Somnath Parida, accused of hacking his wife Ushashree into pieces in June, filed a fresh bail petition at the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here on Tuesday.
The doctor was arrested and forwarded to the court by the Commissionerate Police on charges of murdering his wife. As the doctor’s name was not specifically mentioned in the FIR as a murderer of his wife, he should get bail, argued Parida’s lawyer.
His bail plea has been rejected by the court earlier.
On July 20, the court had rejected the appeal by the police for narco test of Parida on health grounds. Later the police had moved court to apply for brain mapping of the accused.
A lie detector test conducted on the 72-year old doctor earlier had failed to provide any leads to the police.
