Cuttack, Dec 21:
The city commissionerate police which on Saturday filed a final chargesheet in the sensational murder of lady teacher Alakananda Mishra, has identified Paresh Mohaptra as the prime accused.
In the chargesheet, police has said that Paresh, during interrogation, has admitted that he had strangulated Alakananada with her dupatta on the night on July 29 this year because she continued to persist with her demand for the status of wife.
Later, with the help of his associates, he cremated her body at Kaliaboda cremation ground the same night, the chargesheet stated.
Both Paresh and Alakananda had been staying together in a rented house at CDA Sector-10 at Abhinav Bidanasi under Markat Nagar police limits for the last one year.
Alakananda had married one Sunanda Mishra in 1998 and stayed with him till 2003 at various places. including Bhubaneswar. She, however, left her in-laws’ house in 2010 after she found her husband suffering from schizophrenia.
Alakananda came in contact with Paresh, Principal of St Xavier School, Cuttack, in 2010 and quit her job as a teacher in Bhubaneswar.
However, the incident of murder came to light on August 27 after a complaint was lodged by Alakananda’s brother Debaprasad Mohapatra stating that she had gone missing for a while.
During investigation, police came to know about Paresh’s intimate relationship with Alakananda and also that he had vacated the house three days after the murder on August 1 and moved to his own house at Chauliaganj in the city.
Police later arrested Paresh on August 27.
