Cuttack, Aug 30:
Paralakhemundi MLA K Surya Rao today moved the Orissa High Court for anticipatory bail in connection with the mysterious deaths of Parala Maharaja’s former manager Anang Manjari Patra and her three siblings.
Anang’s brother Amulya Patra and his sister had lodged a complaint at Paralakhemundi police station blaming the legislator and few other persons for the deaths.
It may be recalled here that Parala Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deb’s former manager Anang Manjari Patra and her siblings– Bijaylaxmi Patra and Sanjay Patra– were found dead inside their house at Jangama Sahi here on August 21. While Sanjay Patra was found hanging in the drawing room, Anang Manjari Patra and her sister Bijaylaxmi Patra were found dead in another room.
Santosh Patra alias Tulu — brother of deceased— was rescued from the house in a critical condition and admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. However, Santosh took his last breath at the hospital while undergoing treatment.
Prior to that, MLA Rao had led a campaign demanding action against Anang and her brother Sanjay, who worked as a personal assistant to the king, for allegedly keeping the Maharaja under house arrest and trying to sell off royal properties.
Rejecting the allegations against his siblings, Amulya Patra had claimed that the false allegations caused them immense trauma, which was aggravated when dharnas and rallies were held in the town against them.
