Berhampur/Paralakhemundi, Aug 31:
Sixteen days after Parala Maharaja Gopinath Gajapati Narayan Deo was admitted at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, his daughter and Gajapati dynasty scion Kalyani Devi has urged hospital authorities to allow him to shift to Bhubaneswar.
Kalyani Devi has reportedly requested the doctors to shift her father to Apollo’s Bhubaneswar unit in a week, citing that she is alone at the hospital and it is difficult to monitor her father round the clock. She has reasoned that it would be easier on her part to look after her father if he is transferred back to Odisha.
Meanwhile, the Paralakhemundi King, who measured 35kgs when admitted, has shown healthy signs of improvement with his current weight going up by 5kgs, said hospital sources. However, he continues to be bed-ridden with doctors yet to decide on his chemotherapy treatment.
Along with Kalyani, Gajapati Narayan Deo is accompanied by Devi Prasad Dash, son of former Gajapati District BJD president Basanta Dash. Apart from his daughter, no other members of the family have visited the ailing king so far. However, Basanta is scheduled to return back to Odisha in a day or two, leaving the father-daughter duo alone at the hospital.
The doctors have assured to look into the request by the worried daughter and examine the existing facility at Bhubaneswar before taking a call on his transfer.
