The Paradip Port Trust (PPT) in Odisha today began the ‘Clean India’ campaign in response to the clarion call given by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to the people of the country to realise Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean India.
Led by the PPT chairman SS Mishra, all heads of the departments, officials and employees of the Port joined a cleaning drive in the administrative building and around the Port Township.
During the campaign, Mishra visited different schools in the Paradip Port Township and discussed with the school authorities about cleanliness in their premises and adequate toilet facilities.
In the afternoon hours, Binita Mishra, president, Paradip Ladies Club laid the foundation stone for public toilets at Mannad Udyan.
The PPT chairman also urged the concerned authorities to maintain cleanliness in homes, offices and workplaces, schools, hospitals, roads, markets, railway station, bus terminals, statues, monuments, water bodies and other public places.
To raise public awareness, the Port authorities plan to hold cycle rallies, marathon, street plays and folk theatre during the week-long campaign.
Apart from this, debate and essay competitions for students will also be part of the campaign.
