A high level meeting chaired by chief secretary GC Pati today deliberated on the establishment of the proposed health university in Odisha.
The meeting discussed among other things the structure/profile and infrastructure of the proposed university.
A committee has been constituted with the Director Medical Education and Training (DMET) as its chairperson to finalize on the modalities. The committee will submit its report on the matter within a month.
The state government a fortnight back had announced to set up a health university in the state with the aim to provide quality and streamlined medical education in the state in view of a large number of institutions coming up in Odisha to provide medical education.
The decision was taken during the annual review meeting of the Health department by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on June 4 this year.
