Panchayat polls: BJP to use graffiti to target Odisha Govt

Eyes on the upcoming panchayat polls scheduled to be held in February 2017, Odisha unit of BJP today decided to reach out to voters in rural areas and use wall painting and graffiti as tools to take the failures of Biju Janata Dal led state government to the people.


It will also organise mass connect drives and produce a chargesheet against the government to strengthen its campaign. Besides, the party will use other conventional propaganda techniques such as posters and leaflets.

The decision on this context was taken today in a meeting of its state executive members held at the party state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.

“We have decided to initiate a mass connect drive to highlight the failures of the State Government in education, health, employment and agriculture. We will take up wall-writing, graffiti, leaflets and posters to propagate our message. Finally, we will bring along the issues to the November 25 meeting,” said Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who was also part of the meeting.

According to Odisha BJP president Basant Panda, the party also decided to organise a massive public meeting named ‘Aakrosh Samavesh’ on November 25 in Bhubaneswar. As many as 5,00,000 supporters from across the state will be mobilised for this meeting. The workers will go on to gherao the Assembly on the occasion to highlight the failures of the state government.

Addressing reporters after the meeting, party’s state in-charge Arun Singh said that the performance of the party has been satisfactory in the state. However, the executive body members will work further in the second day of the meeting tomorrow to come up with even more effective strategies to counter the ruling party in the state.
