Bhubaneswar, Dec 27:
Maoists made it clear on Friday that the blowing off of the Padia block office in Malkangiri district was in retaliation against the Silakota encounter in the district on September 15 in which 13 Maoists were killed in police encounter.
In an audio release to the media on Friday, senior Maoist leader Poonam Chand warned of more such retaliatory strikes if the security forces did not halt the operation against them.
Referring to the announcement made by the director general (DG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Thursday where he had talked about deployment of 40, 000 more personnel and a further intensification of anti-Maoist operation, Chand announced a four-day bandh in Malkangiri and Koraput districts beginning Saturday to protest the decision.
“Such operations will only end up harassing innocent tribals,’ the Maoist leader said.
