More than 100 workers of BJP and Congress parties were today detained by police before Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Bargarh and Deogarh district in order to avoid any untoward incident.
According to reports, as many as 50 Congress workers and two former MLAs– Nihar Mahanand & Sadhu Nepak– were detained in Bargarh. This apart, more than 50 workers of BJP were also detained.
Similarly, 13 workers of the saffron party, including Deogarh District BJP president, were detained by Deogarh police ahead of the CM’s visit.
Notably, over 80 activists of Congress and BJP were detained yesterday before Patnaik’s visit to Sambalpur district.
Worth mentioning, BJD MLAs are facing stiff opposition across the state during their visits to different districts in the form of waving of black flags and hurling of eggs at them.
