Khordha: In yet another case of mid day meal horror, over 100 students of a government-run primary school in Odisha’s Khordha district allegedly fell ill after taking their mid day meals (MDM) at the school today.

Over 100 students of Deulatangi Project Primary School in Khordha district complained of nausea and head reeling after consuming boiled eggs served in their mid day meals at the school.

The affected kids were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here and are undergoing treatment.

However, hospital authorities have said that the condition of the kids was stable and there is nothing to worry about.

“This is due to allergic reaction since egg is basically protein. This is an allergic reaction. No one is in critical condition. This is a minor problem. Everything will be okay after some time and they can go back to their homes,” informed Dr. Pradip Kumar Das, Medical Officer, Khordha District Headquarters Hospital speaking to reporters.

Hours after the incident, the District Education Officer (DEO) has suspended the headmistress of the school on charges of dereliction of duty.
