Bhubaneswar, Jun 23:

The leader of the Opposition in the Odisha Assembly and senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra today hit out at the Naveen Patnaik run government in the state over the issue of fake gazette notification by the now suspended assistant director of Factories and Boilers Dr. Motilal Gouda.

“The Motilal Gouda case has proved how corrupt Naveen Patnaik government is. The media has exposed how corrupt people and criminals get the patronage of the government. It’s unfortunate that Ministers, MLAs and senior leaders of the ruling party are involved in this scam. But it’s unfortunate that Crime Branch is not at all probing that angle. Though currently, there is a dearth of impartial probe agencies in our country but still the CBI should investigate this case or else investigation should be done under the monitoring of the judiciary by a Special Investigation Team (SIT),” said Mishra.

“How was he given appointment by one department of the government when he was declared absconder by another department? Who had recommended for him? Who had helped him in getting a job in the Labour department? When these angles are investigated it can be proved how much involved the ruling party and the government is in this scam,” added the senior Congress leader.

The BJP too did not lose the opportunity to criticize the government and the ruling party over the issue.

“The government knowing it very well that Motilal was suspended while he was serving as a doctor under the Health department had appointed him in the Labour department. This clearly proves that Minister Arun Sahu and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal president Byomokesh Ray. Without patronage of the ruling party, it would not have been possible for Motilal to commit a scam of such dimension,” stated senior BJP leader and MLA from Brajarajnagar.

As expected BJD rejected involvement of its leaders in the scam and argued that the one should wait till the investigation is completed and findings are out rather than draw conclusions at this stage.

“It is at the direction of the Chief Minister that the Crime Branch is conducting a probe against Motilal Gouda. If involvement of any party man is found out in the investigation report, the Chief Minister will surely take action against them,” said Samir Dash, BJD spokesperson and MLA from Nimapara.

It may be recalled here that Dr. Motilal Gouda, an assistant director of the Directorate of Factories & Boilers under the Labour department had fraudulently published a fake gazette notification on his own asking industrial units to get health check-up of their employees through select pathology labs and had allegedly made about Rs one crore as the kickback.

Notably, Motilal Gouda seen with Law Minister Arun Sahu, MLAs Pranab Balabantaray, Byomkesh Ray, Anubhav Patnaik  in a photograph has turned out as the Achilles heel for the ruling BJD.
