As many as 1051 missing children have been rescued by the Crime Branch during the first phase of Operation Muskan-2 which kicked off in Odisha on July 25.


According to reports, the Crime Branch officials have rescued these children from various places across the state.

The southern Odisha district Ganjam topped the list with the rescue of 93 children followed by Jajpur (87), Dhenkanal (79), Kendrapara (69) and Nayagarh (65), Crime Branch Special DG BK Sharma said today.

Notably, 85 missing cases were registered across the state out of which 1051 children have been traced.

The rescued kids will be produced before the respective Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) followed by rehabilitation and handing over to their family members.

The Operation Muskan is conducted by the Crime Branch in association with Women and Child Development (WCD) Department.

It may be mentioned here that the next phase of operation will resume from tomorrow where teams will fan out to Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jharkhand and Bihar. The second phase operation will end on August 24.
