One killed, four injured in road mishap


Bhubaneswar, Jan 5:

One person was killed and four others were seriously injured as a college bus hit four bikes near the Patrapada square here this afternoon, police sources said.

While one of them died on the way to hospital, others were admitted at Capital Hospital with severe injuries.

An eye-witness said, a private college bus going towards Khurda went out of control and hit five persons sitting on their parked bikes on the roadside near Patrapada square.

Other people who were standing at the spot escaped unhurt.

The driver, however, managed to flee the spot along with the bus.

Later two of the injured persons, Bidyadhar Nayak and Jayaprakash Nayak of Khurda were shifted to SCB Medical and Hospital, Cuttack after their condition deteriorated.

The other two injured Dhrub Abhisek Singh and Subham Kumar are students of Gandhi Engineering College, sources said.

The deceased has not yet been identified. The Khandagiri police have begun investigation to find out the identity of the deceased and are also trying to nab the bus driver.
