In yet another incident of post-poll violence one person was injured as two rival groups’ hurled bombs at each other at Bada Khairakhama village in Odisha’s Ganjam district today.
This was the third such incident in the village since the first phase elections on April 10.
The injured Muralidhara Jena was out of danger, said police sources.
Police said members of rival groups allegedly hurled bombs at each other from the terraces of their houses over a dispute between them in the morning.
IIC Kodala, SK Senapati said the situation was under control and policemen have been deployed in the village as a precautionary measure to prevent any further flare up.
The village has seen two clashes earlier.
While Satyabadi Sahu, sarpanch of Bada Khairakhama panchayat was seriously injured in an attack by his opponents outside a polling station in the village on polling day, the husband of a samiti member, Duryodhan Gouda was injured on April 11 when the supporters of the sarpanch allegedly attacked him in the village.
Bada Khairakhama village falls under the Kabisuryanagara assembly segment.
