Odisha police today arrested one more aide of arrested former Sanakhemundi legislator Ramesh Jena.
The associate of Jena has been identified as K Kumar who worked as a salesman at a liquor shop owned by Jena, sources said.
Police seized a pistol from Kumar’s possession.
According to reports, police was investigating a case (25/2016) registered at Town Police Station here against Ramesh Jena for which it was questioning Kumar in this connection. During interrogation, police found a pistol from his possession leading to his arrest.
In a related development, police today seized four trucks, three motorcycles, a scooterette, and two excavator machines (JCB and a Tata Hitachi) belonging to former Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Corporator R Murali Mohan.
Notably, the remand period of Murali Mohan and Arakhita Jena will be ending today following which they will be sent to Berhampur Circle Jail.
The investigators would seek further remand of Murali Mohan if needed, police sources said.
On the other hand, Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here would deliver its verdict on the remand plea of Santosh Behera today.
Berhampur police had filed a petition yesterday seeking seven-day remand of Santosh, an associate of Ramesh Jena who was arrested by Twin City Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar recently.
