Ollywood actor-cum-director Biswabhusan Mohapatra was today forwarded to court in Odisha capital on charges of defrauding a producer.
The director was arrested late yesterday night following a complaint filed by the movie producer Ardhendu Sekhar Sahu at Saheed Nagar police station here.
As per the complainant, Biswabhusan was given the assignment of directing Odia movie “Kou Ghara Pua Kaan Karuchi”. During November 2015, the crew of the movie had gone to Manali for shooting for which Mohapatra had taken Rs 7 lakh. The star cast of the movie includes noted actor Meenaketan, comedian Harihar Mohapatra, Prajna, Amar and Thin.
However, Mohapatra disappeared from Manali and switched off his mobile phone without informing anybody. The producer claimed that he had to pay Rs 6 lakh towards hotel bills and returned to Bhubaneswar with his team.
After reaching here, the complainant tried to reach a compromise but the matter could not be resolved following which he filed a complaint at the local police station against Mohapatra.
Police registered a case (174) against Mohapatra under section 342, 420, 406, 386, 506, 34 of IPC and 25 of Arms Act.
Mohapatra hailing from Soro in Balasore district is a pass out from National School of Film Technology (NSFT), Pune.
Besides, directing movies in other regional industries, Mohapatra has directed “Anjali” and “Chup Kie Asuchi”.
