OKCL to focus on employability of youth

After setting up Authorized Learning Centers ( ALCs) in different parts of the State for promotion of IT literacy among the people and students, the Odisha Knowledge Corporation Ltd (OKCL), has now designed a number of new world class e-earning academic curriculum in vocational training.

These new offerings have been initiated with the principal objective of promoting vocational education for enhancing employability of the youth.

In a recent high level meeting at the State Secretariat, chief secretary had directed the OKCL to design university and college automation models customizing it with the requirement of respective institutions.

Discussions in the meeting revealed that the Corporation has now initiated on-line courses for of Plus Two and All India Joint Entrance Examination (AIJEE) course.

In Plus Two stream students will be acquainted with multiple choice questions in 10 subjects. There will be around 50 tests. The students can improve their learning standards and performance level by practicing these questions on-line.

The Corporation has also designed model preliminary on-line and Optical Mark Recognition/Reading (OMR) mock tests in physics, chemistry and mathematics in AIJEE format.

Besides, it has also designed online WAVE (World-Class Academy for Vocational Excellence) training courses.

The Corporation has already registered 224 ALCs in different parts of the state and many registrations of other ALCs are in process.

It was decided in the meeting that the automation systems will be piloted in six government colleges at the initial level. This new automation system will decrease work load on the college offices and facilitate teaching-learning performances.
