Odisha’s SOA University to hold Industry-Academia Conclave on July 17

Around 100 industries across the country will participate in an Industry-Academia Conclave being organized by the SOA University in Odisha’s capital city to mark its 7th Foundation Day on July 17.

“The program will provide a platform to discuss critical issues involving industry-academia collaboration. It will enhance this interface and help Industry decision makers, leading academicians and all other stake holders to exchange ideas and views,” vice-chancellor of the University, Prof RP Mohanty said.

SOA University LogoThe program, to be held at ITER, the faculty of engineering of the University, will also make the University understand the requirement of the industry and prepare students to help the industry to meet the present day challenges, he said.

“It will definitely help the University for placement of students, internships, project consultancy, faculty exchange program with various industries,” Prof Harish Das, convener of the Organizing Committee, said.

This conclave, he said, would explore all possible areas of collaboration between the industries and University to strengthen the quality of education and enhance the employability skill of the students.

Around 40 different industries are likely to participate in the conclave including Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, Aditya Birla Group, JK Paper Ltd, ACC Ltd, Ib Thermal Power Station, Hindalco Industries, WIPRO Ltd, Infosys Ltd and Paradip Phosphates Ltd.

Some senior state government officials will also attend the conclave.

According to Dr Amiya Kumar Dash, co-convener of the event, RS Mekar, executive director of Employer’s Federation of India, will be the chief guest on the occasion.

Prominent faces from the industry who are expected to attend the conclave are Arun Mishra, project director, Tata Steel, Alfred Osta, executive vice-president (HR), Mahindra Systech, Ravi Singh, vice-president (HR) Yazaki India Ltd, Pune, Dr Suvendu Das, vice-president (HR), Paradip Phosphates Ltd, Vijay Kalra, strategic senior vice-president, Mahindra & Mahindra, RK Vyas, executive vice-president, Mannara Technologies, Navi Mumbai and Dr SK Mohapatra, vice-president (HR) JSPL, Angul.
