Bhubaneswar: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University, the one and only higher educational institute from Odisha, has made it to the top “swachh” institutions in the country. The all-India ranking was announced by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadkar today in New Delhi.
The Bhubaneswar-based varsity bagged third position under the category of ‘Technical Institutions/Universities (Residential)’. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Tamil Nadu and Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati secured first and second spots respectively.
Except SOA, no other colleges or universities from the State have been featured in the Swachh Campus Ranking-2018.
Panimalar Engineering College and Easwari Engineering College, both in Tamil Nadu have topped the list under technical college (residential and non-residential) categories.
Maharshi Dayanand University in Haryana topped the chart as Government University, while Symbiosis International University in Maharashtra secured first position under residential university category.
The participating institutions were judged on the basis of student-toilet ratio, water purity and pipeline systems, availability of running water, kitchen hygiene and garbage disposal system, among others.
