Odisha footballer and former Indian women’s team captain Shradhanjali Samantaray was appointed a national selector for U-18 women team, reports said.
Ace footballer Shradhanjali is currently the assistant coach for U-16 national women’s football team. She will be one of the four selectors in the selection committee.
The former national captain will participate in the selection of the national team during the Goa tournament to be held from October 4 to 22.
On the other hand, international shooter from Odisha– Sriyanka Sarangi—has won an individual bronze in women’s (junior) category in 8th Asian Air Gun Championship-2015 in New Delhi yesterday.
Sriyanka has won the bronze medal in 10 metre air rifle (women junior) event. The Odia shooter had earned medals at the international level earlier too. Her first big break had come when she got a silver medal in a team event at the 12th Asian Shooting Championship held in Doha, Qatar in 2012.
Sriyanka, who was born in Sambalpur, to Sitansu Charan Sarangi and Sudha Sarangi, has grown up at various places in India because of her father’s army background.
The Ekalabya Award winner in 2013 is now pursuing her Master’s degree from Delhi University after graduating from St Stephen’s College in the national capital.
