Odisha’s SCB medical college  gets new dialysis centre

A new and upgraded dialysis centre in Shriram Chandra Bhanj (SCB) Medical College’s Nephrology department in Odisha’s millennium city was inaugurated on Wednesday.


Earlier, the department only had six dialysis machines which has now increased to 20.

Odisha patients will no longer need to go outside the state for treatment, said Head Nephrology department Dr Chittaranjan Kar, during the inauguration ceremony.

In four years, 95 kidney transplants have been done in the hospital, he said. He added that the total cost of a kidney transplant is Rs 1.5 lakh, out of which 70 per cent is given by the Odisha government.

Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak , Justice Vinod Prasad, Dr Sridhar Dash, Dr Pratap Rath,  Dr Chittaranjan Kar and Dr Datteswar Hota were present during the occasion.
