Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of Odisha has decided to stage demonstration before the Parliament on January 8 over the demand of hiking the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy for the farmers of the state.

Informing about it, BJD leader Pratap Jena today said that party MPs and MLAs along with Biju Krushak Janata Dal members will leave for New Delhi in a special train on January 5 evening.

They will stage demonstration before the Parliament on January 8. On the very day, a memorandum will be submitted by them to the President of India. The primary demand will be increase of paddy MSP to Rs 2,930 per quintal for Odisha farmers, he added.

BJD has also been opposing the alleged negligence by the Centre in materialising the unanimous resolution passed by the Odisha Assembly in connection with the demand of paddy MSP hike.
