The Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) on the outskirts of Odisha capital has breached the earlier records in terms of the number of tourist footfalls.


As many as 50, 648 people visited the botanical and zoological park on the New Year day registering an all-time high.

With this, the NZP has broken the 57-year record, sources said.

As per statistics, as many as 49,682 tourists visited the NZP in 2012, 50,338 in 2013, and 12, 007 in 2015.

It may be mentioned here that the zoo has launched online ticketing services during the 57th foundation day on December 29. Besides, as many as 24 birds and animals have been added to the list of inmates of the zoo earlier last month.

The addition of species and introduction of amenities could have boost the tourist inflow, sources said.
