The Jagamohana repair work of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri will begin in the first week of February next year, Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Suresh Mohapatra said today.
Speaking to reporters after a technical core committee meeting held today in Bhubaneswar, Mohapatra said that the committee has already approved the portal steel frame design of the Works Department.
“ASI has already approved the design of the portal steel frame. The repair works will be taken up by the Works Department. We are planning to complete the repair works before the Snana Purnima next year,” said Mohapatra.
According to reports, 12mm steel plates would be procured for fabrication in the first phase. ASI will remove the stones from the floor in the first week of February once the fabrication works are over. The steel beams will be installed after the 2-2.5 ft deep foundation is concretised.
Besides, according to reports, certain differences in opinion over the repair works between ASI and Works Department were discussed and sorted out in the meeting.
