Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s sprint queen Dutee Chand was like a “heroine” on Sunday. Yes, this is what her fans, well-wishers and social media users termed her when the country’s fastest woman posted some pictures of her in saree with make-up and jewellery.
The sprint star’s new avatar caught everyone’s fancy on the internet as her saree clad photos accumulated nearly six thousand “likes” and hundreds of comments on Facebook.
Among the comments, adjectives such as “beautiful”, “heroine look”, “so beautiful”, “fabulous” and “wow” to name a few are common.
One Prakash Chandra Bal wrote: “Made in Odisha, Pride of India”.
Some even enquired whether her marriage was fixed seeing Dutee in traditional look.
“Has your marriage been fixed,” asks one Jitendra Kumar Jena on the popular social media site.
When everyone was guessing about the occasion behind their favourite sport star donning the new look, she, within hours, posted few more pictures in same style saying it was for Khudurukuni festival.
Speaking to OST about her new look, Dutee said, “I came to my village to observe Khudurukuni puja with my friends. I wore a saree after a long time and I am glad and touched that my fans are liking my new look.”
This girl next door image of the Rio Olympian has definitely caught everyone’s fancy! With her fandom on the rise, we can’t wait to see what Dutee has next in line for us when it comes to hitting the track.
The Jajpur-born sprinter recently received the Biju Patnaik sports award-2016 for outstanding performance in sports and games.
