Kendrapara: The Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha’s Kendrapara district will remain closed for visitors from today till January 14 for the census of migratory birds and saltwater crocodiles.
The bird census will be conducted in water body of Satabhaya, Raipatia, Matha Adia, Gupti Ghat, Hansila Ghat and wide wetland of lighthouse along with Bhitarkanika National Park. Sources said that a total of 12 teams will participate in the counting of birds.
Similarly, crocodile census will be conducted simultaneously in the sanctuary. Eight teams under the supervision of eminent saltwater crocodile expert Dr. Sudhakar Kar will carry out the saltwater crocodile census.
