Brahmapur, Dec 6:

A couple was strangled to death allegedly by their nephew late on Sunday night over property dispute in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

According to reports, the accused allegedly killed his paternal uncle and aunt in order to get the property in his name.

The deceased identified as Ramakrushna Pradhan and Damayanti Pradhan were murdered when they were in sleep.

The gruesome incident has taken place at Sindhikhali village under K Nuagaon police station limits under Digapahandi in Ganjam district.

While the police are investigating into the case, two accused have been rounded up by local police for questioning.

“The IIC and SDPO are on the spot for inquiry. Preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased might have been murdered and the motive of crime could be for property. We have detained the two accused—the nephew and son-in-law of the deceased– for questioning. We have recovered a weapon (chopper) from the rooftop. But, that was not used in the crime. It might have been used to make a hole,” Sarthak Sarangi, SP Brahmapur said.

Meanwhile, the incident has sent shock waves in the area.
