Cuttack: A young man died and two others were critical after falling ill during the physical test for recruitment as constable to the Indian Reserve Battalion, under Odisha Police.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh Pradhan, a native of Narsinghpur of Cuttack. Pradhan had fallen ill while running the 1600 meters as part of test and was immediately rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital, where he died.
Two other candidates, who had also taken ill during the test, are now being treated at the SCB Medical.
The physical fitness test was going on at the Odisha Swift Action Force (OSAP) Seventh Battalion Ground in Cuttack.
Meanwhile, the family members of the deceased alleged that Pradhan died because of delay in treatment and negligence on the part of recruitment staff.
The villagers and family members of the deceased staged a road blockade on Narsinghpur-Cuttack road demanding compensation and action against the culprits.
The authorities of the recruitment drive could not be contacted for their version in the matter. The story will be updated once we receive their replies.
