Apparently unable to bear the shocking news of her four-year-old nephew’s murder, a woman in Odisha’s Bargarh district today reportedly died of cardiac arrest.
According to sources, the woman identified as Prem Bijen had broken down after the family came to know about the murder of missing nephew Piyush Jain on Saturday evening.
Piyush was found dead in Bijepur area of the district.
Meanwhile, local police arrested two accused in connection with the murder and revealed the conspiracy hatched to kill him.
The accused were identified as Pinku alias Sudhir Barik (24) and Pramod Agrawal of Melchhamunda area in the district.
Sudhir Barik has confessed to the crime before police. He said that he took the boy from his home on February 8 on a vehicle. He made him unconscious by offering a sedative-laced beverage after which he strangled the boy to death with a rope, police sources said.
He also confessed that it was a contract killing. The second accused Pramod, son of a petrol pump owner, had struck a deal with Barik to eliminate the kid for Rs One lakh.
Police arrested Promod based on the confession of the prime accused.
According to preliminary report of police, a love affair was the reason behind murder of the minor child.
According to reports, the deceased, Piyush, son of a Bargarh-based businessman Mohanlal Jain was missing since February 8.
His family had filed a missing complaint with Melchhamunda police station on the same day after failing to trace him.
Police began probe into the incident forming a four-member team following the complaint by the family members.
However, the decomposed body of Piyush was found near Pada village under Bijepur police limits in the district by locals on Saturday.
The irate people had ransacked Melchhamunda police station yesterday following killing of the boy and set it on fire.
Government property worth around Rs Three lakh, two motor vehicles and eight bikes were torched by the villagers. Police have filed four cases against public involved in the violence.
Police have been deployed in the area to avoid any untoward situation.
