Bolagarh, Mar 30:
Locals of villages under Govardhanpur panchayat in Khurda district are suffering from water crisis with a Rs 50 lakh drinking water facility lying in disuse.
In 2010-2011, at a cost of Rs 50 lakh in Govardhanpur under Bolagarh block a drinking water facility was set up. The facility was supposed to supply drinking water to four villages in Govardhanpur, Godabhanga, Kumarlunda and Bhandsahi.
The project under Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department (RWSS) department was active for two years, but stopped working due to lack of maintenance.
Thus the villagers are forced to drink untreated water from ponds, tube-wells, watering holes etc.
With the rise in heat the water levels in the villages is also falling leading to water crisis in the area.
