Odisha Vigilance nabs official for bribery

Sundargarh, July 7:

The Vigilance sleuths today arrested an Industry Promotion Officer of Bargaon in Odisha’s Sundargarh district while he was accepting a bribe Rs 10,000 from a person for processing his loan sanction papers at the District Industries Office (DIC).

bribe takingThe arrested, identified as Rama Krushna Sahoo (58), was later forwarded to Sambalpur Vigilance Court.

Vigilance sources said Suraj Kumar Sa of Bargaon basti had applied for a loan of Rs 5.5 lakh at the Industry Promotion Office (IPO) at Bargaon in June this year to set up a DJ Sound & Music system in his locality.

On July 3, Sa had gone to the IPO and requested Sahu to recommend his application to which the latter demanded Rs 10,000 from him.

On Monday, Sa lodged a complaint with the Sundargarh Vigilance Wing. Acting on the complaint, a team of Vigilance sleuths led by DSP P Kisan today went to Bargaon IPO office, and as per the plan, caught Sahu red-handed while he was accepting the bribe from Sa.

The Vigilance officials seized the bribe money and arrested Sahu who was later forwarded to the court.
