Bhubaneswar, Dec 10:

Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today said that banks in Odisha will receive higher volumes of Rs 500 notes starting tomorrow to address the ongoing cash crunch.

Speaking to reporters in Bhubaneswar today, Pradhan accused the State Government of spreading misinformation pertaining to demonetisation issue.

“I fail to see why the State Government is spreading misinformation over the demonetisation scheme. The Union Government has taken adequate measures to address the cash crunch. New Rs 500 notes will reach Odisha starting tomorrow,” said Pradhan while inaugurating a customer awareness camp organised by Bharat Petroleum here.

“The Prime Minister had sought only 50 days. I understand that the queues have come down in the last 30 days. There of course are initial hassles. However, this is a new chapter in the history of Indian economy aimed at the long term goal of establishing a cashless society. The State Government should cooperate,” he added.

It may be mentioned here that Odisha Finance Minister Pradeep Amat yesterday had said that there is an acute shortage of Rs 100 and Rs 500 notes in the state as we reported here.
