The Chhatisha Nijog, a body of senior servitors of Sri Jaganath temple, the 12th century holy shrine for Hindus in this pilgrim town of Odisha, on Thursday gave its final approval on the timings of the rituals for the ensuing Debasnana Purnima and Rath Yatra.
The meeting, presided over by the chief administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Arabinda Padhi, finalized the schedule for the rituals of these two major festivals as per the suggestions by the representatives of the Chhatisha Nijog.
The meeting also approved the timing of the other rituals of the deities that include Nabajoubana Darshan, Hera Panchami, Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Yatra, Suna Vesha, Adharapana Lagi and Niladri Bije.
As scheduled, the temple servitors would begin the ritual of the three deities at 4 am on June 13, which is Debasnana Purmina. This would be followed by Jala Bije and bathing rituals of the Lords that would be performed between 9.30 AM and 11.30 AM.
The Hati Besha of the deities would be held between 12.30 PM and 3 PM. The servitors would later take the deities on pahandi to Anabasara Griha between 10.30 PM and 1 PM.
The meeting also finalized the ritual timing of the Lords during Rath Yatra on June 29.
As per the timings decided, the pahandi bije of the deities atop the chariots would be performed by 9.30 AM while the pulling of the chariots would begin at 3 PM.
Publication of the final schedule of the aforesaid rituals would be made soon, the meeting decided.
The committee (Nijog) sought cooperation from all the servitors as well as the officials and staff of SJTA for smooth conduct of the rituals.
Among others, district collector, SP, representatives of the government and the temple servitors were present at the meeting.
