He has been identified as Manab Patnaik of Titlagarh, who was staying with his family at Prashanti Vihar under the Infocity police limits in the city.

Manab, son of Kambupani Patnaik a retired Income-tax officer, had joined TCS on May 28 this year after leaving his job as system administrator from SAI International where he had served for three years. He had completed his Btech degree from Computer Science branch from a city-based engineering college. He got married in February 2010 and has a 16-month-old son.

The matter came to light after his family members lodged a missing report with the local police  late Monday night.

The report said Manab left for his office  on Monday morning at about 8 am leaving his mobile phone in his cupboard at home in a switched off mode. Around 1 pm the family members received a call from the officesaying Manab had notreported for duty without notifying them.

Manab’s family members searched for him at different places and also contacted their relatives but failed to trace him.

Their efforts to contact him on his handphone failed and they gave up as they found his phone was  in the house itself in a switched off mode.

Manab’s family member finally sought police help.

“We have started our investigation and are trying to track him down,” Infocity IIC Bijayini Singh told OST.
