The School Teachers’ Federation of Odisha (STFO), an umbrella organization of 14 teachers’ organizations in the state, has decided to observe the Guru Divas (Teachers’ Day) as black day on September 5.
In a joint press briefing here today, chief convenor of the Federation Prakash Chandra Mohanty and president Prakash Chandra Jena said it has been decided that a teachers’ representative from each school of the state would observe Black Day by staging dharna on the Mahatma Gandhi Marg near Lower PMG Square in the capital city.
The Federation, which had begun its indefinite strike on August 10 after closing down all schools in the state, has been staging dharna in front of the State Assembly since August 29.
